A scratch on the surface
Who am I?
Hi! I am Athena Avelino, a 20-year-old dreamer, and doer. My parents named me Athena because of my father’s fascination with Greek mythology and their unusual tradition of maintaining a family tree with first names that start with the letter “A.”
I am currently a third-year college student at Saint Louis University, studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. Growing up, I divulged in the beauty of the arts and the process of its creation. I fell in love with books, music, film, and real-life and fictional stories. This led me to pick up a hobby in writing, reading, filming, and occasional drawing, hobbies that later on turned into passions. Aside from my memories and dreams, these makeup who I am. It also explains why I am studying Ba Com because it comprises all I am passionate about.
A fun fact about me is that I enjoy reading the dedications on a book’s front pages. When I could, I would go to libraries or bookstores, open a book, and read the author’s dedications. It was a fun rollercoaster ride, some would have me laughing because of its wittiness, but some would pull at my heartstrings.
It opens a new mystery to a book, a reason, or a purpose.
A quote from one of my favorite book series’: “To the stars who listen-and the dreams that are answered”
